QUESTION: What is this web site all about?

ANSWER: This site is an ever growing resource where students, parents, teachers and other tutors may be able to acquire DVDs and VOD of my math tutoring videos. Sample (and many complete) lessons may be viewed elsewhere on this site. Free math related printable material is available here too.

QUESTION: What does "VOD" mean?

ANSWER: VOD is "Video On Demand," a way for you to download videos from my web site directly to your PC.

QUESTION: Who are you?

ANSWER: My name is Luis Anthony Ast. I am a professional college level math tutor with 25 years of tutoring experience. More details can be found HERE.

QUESTION: What calculator should I use?

ANSWER: I use the TI-84 plus, Silver Edition in my Math Notes and Videos. You are HIGHLY recommended to get the same one. Most office supply stores have them, or look on eBay for a cheaper one. You can also find them listed if you do a search in my Amazon Bookstore. If not able to, you can also use the regular TI-84 plus, TI-83 plus or TI-83 (non-plus model). If you use a model that is not listed, you will need to consult your calculator manual. Sorry. I can also recommend other calculators or software if you are taking a very advanced math class. Contact me for more information.

QUESTION: What Web Browser Plug-Ins do I need to use this site?

ANSWER: You will need the most recent Acrobat Reader Plug-In to view the Printable documents and the QuickTime Plug-In to view the Video Podcasts. You should have at least QuickTime 7. To watch the free Flash videos, you will need the most recent Adobe Flash Player installed. If you are able to watch YouTube videos, then you are all set!

QUESTION: Why can't I see the QuickTime Video Podcasts?

ANSWER: First, make sure you are using the most recent version of QuickTime. Make sure JavaScript and ActiveX are enabled. Having a high speed internet connection is VERY important, since the movie files are HUGE. I recommend you use Apple iTunes and have it simply download the podcasts in the background.

QUESTION: Where are the Notes you talk about in your videos?

ANSWER: Go to the PDF Printshop. Notes are also available in each Free Video Page. Look for these Acrobat icons:

pdficon_large pdficon_small orpdf-sidebar

Notes can also be downloaded in the areas where there corresponding video is featured.

Some notes are ONLY available if you pay for them, or buy the DVD disc directly from my e-store (they are NOT included in the CreateSpace or Amazon.com versions of my DVDs).

QUESTION: Why don't the CreateSpace or Amazon.com DVDs include any Notes?

ANSWER: Unfortunately, they ONLY have the DVD video. No "Bonus" features (DVD-ROM content) are allowed. So I include them at no charge in the DVD-Rs I burn myself and sell directly to you.

QUESTION: What's the deal with all these ads?

ANSWER: I try to provide you with as many FREE videos and notes as possible. I still need to pay for life's essentials: a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and chocolate; so I have to charge for some videos (the "Premium" lessons) and also have ads to help my costs to maintain this website. Also, I need cash to buy more "math toys" so I can make better videos. I also am buying upgrades to my audio and video equipment, computer hardware and software. You are welcome to make a donation too (see link on my home page), to help me with my costs.

QUESTION: How can I send you a question for inclusion here?

ANSWER: Contact me HERE.
